SPACE RESTRICTIONS: CYCLISTS HOPING to set off by train for holidays around Ireland are being turned away from stations because of a lack of bicycle spaces on Iarnród Eireann’s new intercity trains.

Iarnród Éireann is reducing the number of spaces on its trains as part of the renewal of its fleet. Some intercity trains to and from major tourist destinations, such as Galway, provide as few as three spaces.

At the arch at Georges Dock Between Cabra and Ashtown At Castleknock Picnic at Farmleigh Picnic at Farmleigh

The annual DCC social bike ride took place Sunday 16 August.  We gathered at Georges Dock, IFSC (near the arch outside the chq building) at 11am and proceeded along the Royal Canal to Castleknock.  We finished up with a picnic at Farmleigh in Phoenix Park

Cycle training to be rolled out in Dublin

A cycle training programme, based on the UK bikeability scheme, has been announced by Dublin City Council.  School children will be trained in real, on-road traffic situations.  Such training has been something DCC has long been arguing for.  It has been shown to be one of the most effective way of increasing the level of cycling and the number of children cycling to school.

Adults will also be able to avail of the training programme.

The Bicycle Christmas Pary - taking place on Thursday 17th December in POD Harcourt Street, Dublin - will be a celebration of the rejuvenation of cycling in Irish towns and cities.

Annual Cycling Research Lecture

The Annual Cycling Research Lecture takes place during Spring or Summer each year.  The aim of the event is to present fresh perspectives on how we can recreate a strong cycli
