Fund-raising Cycle

Fund-raising Cycle

Those of you receiving this issue in the post will already have noticed the enclosed sponsorship card for the next fund-raising event, our summer sponsored cycle.

First of all the hard sell: The Dublin Cycling Campaign is almost broke! Yes, we have no money. All the subscription fees are used to keep our membership informed about meetings, actions and of course to produce this newsletter - all done at the minimum of cost. This means that everything else the Campaign does depends on fundraising.

The last fund-raiser kept the Campaign going until now and if we are to stay solvent past the summer we must get some funds in, and soon.

As usual in the Dublin Cycling Campaign we also want to have FUN. Hence the Sponsored Summer Cycle.

The event starts at 2 o’clock on Sunday July 5th at the Parkgate St entrance to the Phoenix Park (near Heuston Station). We will wend our way along the southern part of the Park and leave it by the Knockmaroon Gate following the river out past the Strawberry Beds as far as the weir. This is the 10km mark and the point at which we turn back. The same route will be taken back as far as the Knockmaroon Gate and then we will complete a circle of the park by going around the northern side, ending up at the Wellington monument about 4pm. Plans are that we will have a little picnic there, weather permitting.

Please get sponsored and come on the day out - Great fun and in a good cause.
