Press Release on 30 kph Zone

Press Release - 30 January 2010
For immediate use:

Dublin City Centre 30 kph special speed limit

Dublin Cycling Campaign strongly welcome the introduction of the Dublin City Centre 30 kmph zone in Dublin City Centre.

See also our Press Release on the subject.

The vision in the National Cycle Policy Framework is that all streets need to be not just safe, but also provide an attractive cycle-friendly environment. It stresses that the most imporant measures to achieve this are not specific to cyclists, but general actions to calm traffic and reduce traffic levels. The 30 kmph zone and the successful HGV ban are excellent examples of this.

2009-12 Wrightbus Bike Spaces

Here's a good example of integration of cycling with public transport with three simple to use spaces. You hang the front wheel at the top and it automatically clamps the bike when you let the weight settle. You can then strap the bottom wheel on with a velcro strap. The three bike spaces can serve as standing space when not use or have fold down seats.<
