Great Support from the 4 Dublin Mayors and Garda for Dublin Cycling Campaign Winter Bike Light Campaign

The turnout of the 4 local authority mayors/cathaoirleachs, and the Garda traffic unit to support Dublin Cycling Campaign’s winter bike lights campaign was a statement of how active travel (by bike) is critical for the Dublin region and beyond. The Campaign promotes safe travel by bike during these dark winter nights. The Bike Lights launch event was coordinated by the Dublin City Council Road safety team and took place in the vicinity of City Hall in Parliament Street, which of course is now fully pedestrianised! The images above give a flavour of the turnout, including members of Dublin Cycling Campaign, and staff from the local authorities. Don’t forget that having a working bike light on your bike is a legal requirement after dark. You can be fined for not having lights!

The Irish Cycling Campaign, of which Dublin Cycling Campaign is the largest group member, will be distributing the bike lights, supplied by the National Transport Authority Smarter Travel Workplaces,. throughout the country. We are supported in this by Cyclone Couriers who kindly provide the delivery service for the lights to our member groups around the country.
