When can I bring my bike on the train?

Bicycles may be carried for free on Commuter and DART services at the following times:

  • 10:00 to 15:30 and after 19:00 Monday to Friday
  • all day Saturday and Sunday

Most InterCity trains have bicycles carriage facilities. The cost is €6 one way, €12 return per bike if you book online. Charges vary by distance if you pay at the station. The number of bicycle spaces is limited on each train so booking is advised when you are booking your seat.

Rail Users Ireland have compiled a full list of train services that can carry bicycles and the charges that apply: Train Services that Carry Bikes.

See the Irish Rail Bicycle Page for further details.

Luas only permits fold-up bikes in a bag on.

There is limited bicycle parking at most train stations. Bicycle racks are free. Bike lockers may be rented at some stations. See Bike Locker for details.

The cycling campaign is calling for much more secure bicycle parking at train stations, more bike spaces on Intercity trains and permission to bring bikes on Luas at off-peak times.
