A look at how IMBRC run Cycling Ireland’s Sprocket Rocket cycle training program for children - 8PM

Dublin Cycling Campaign’s March monthly public talk will look at one route to the development of the next generation of cyclists. Dave O Shea and Stuart Gavin of the Irish Mountain Bike Racing Club (IMBRC ) will give an illustrated talk on the dynamic development of very young children in cycling skills, as a result of implementing Cycling Ireland’s Sprocket Rocket training program in 2014.

Both Dave and Stuart are active mountain bikers and club members, but are also committed to passing on cycling skills to a new generation. Both of them have qualified as ‘Sprocket Rocket’ trainers through the Cycling Ireland program. Dave has previously volunteered with the National Council of the Blind in Ireland as a tandem bicycle pilot, as well as helping out at the Special Olympics events. Stuart has a strong desire and passion in training the basics of biking to young kids and youths, and wants to progress to become a fully qualified coach.

For anyone interested in the future of cycling, this presentation will provide wonderful insights and experiences in cycle training of the next generation, as well as many humorous anecdotes!
