Bicycle parking design in new apartments for Palmerstown - Submission to An Bord Pleanála
Bicycle parking in Strategic Housing development in Palmerstown Bike parking plans weren’t up to best practice. Observation has gone in to An bord Pleanála on behalf of the Dublin cycling campaign on this planning application for a large number of apartments. Have to future proof these buildings for cyclists. Please see attached submission for more details. Some of the points we highlighted were • Cycling Infrastructure in compliance with NTA “National Cycle Manual” • There is not sufficient cycling provided (Section 5.5.6) of the Cycle Manual. • The gradient for the basement car park exceeds the recommended maximum and should comply with the NTA National Cycle Manual
**Major wins: Our submission has been noted by the inspector. ** The proposed cycle access into the site and the basement area shall be designed so as to comply with all necessary standards in the NTA National Cycle Manual. Details of the layout, marking demarcation and security provisions for the cycle spaces and cycle infrastructure shall be as submitted to An Bord Pleanála with this application, unless otherwise agreed in writing with, the planning authority prior to commencement of development.
Reason: To ensure that adequate bicycle parking provision is available to serve the proposed development, in the interest of sustainable transportation.
