Dublin Cycling School is Reborn

Dublin City’s Bike School is Relaunched

On Tuesday 6th May 2025, after a gap of many years, Dublin City Council launched the latest version of their Cycle Training School in the pristine surrounds of Eamon Ceannt Park in Crumlin. The original cycling school, now defunct, was based in Clontarf/Fairview beside the DART station, but became obsolete and was abandoned a number of years ago. Dublin Cycling Campaign was privileged to be invited to the launch.

This latest version of a cycle training school comes after sustained lobbying by a number of Dublin City Councillors, and has been spearheaded by the Road Safety & Mobility section of Dublin City Council. As you can see from the above photo, the site has been lined and marked out to give nascent cyclists an experience of actual road conditions, with junction layouts, sharp bends, roundabouts, and road signs. Trainee cyclists will get an opportunity to learn the rules of the road and the etiquette of cycling behaviour on the road, in a safe environment. On the day it was clear from some of the young people who participated that good cycle training is needed for on the road safety!

The new Training School was formally launched by Labour councillor Fiona Connelly, deputising for the Lord Mayor, and the location of the facility links in to the recently established Bike Hub in the Park, as well as its placing within the open air cycle velodrome in the Park. Details on how to book slots at the school have yet to be released. WATCH THIS SPACE
