Liffey quays cycle route chosen

It’s great news to hear 94% of submissions were in favour of a having a cycleway and 48% were in favour of the two way cycle track along the north quays. This will mean Dublin will have a seperated cycling track from the Phoenix Park along the north quays to O’Connell Street and further on to the Point.

This will also tie in with the planned Sandycove to Sutton cycle way, the current Grand Canal Cycleway and the proposed Royal Canal Cycle Way. When all these projects are complete, they will form an excellent backbone for cycling infrastructure that will be of tremendous value to our capitals citizens but will also put us in an enviable position in comparison to other cycling cities when attracting tourism and business investment.

It has taken a long time to get here and we are delighted to see the decision has been taken and Dublin City Council will move to the costing phase and getting into some of the tricky design elements. We look forward to getting firmer dates when we will all be able to enjoy a fantastic link to the park.
