New Bridge on Liffey Quays Now Under Construction

Dublin Cycling Campaign are delighted to see that Dublin City Council have started construction of the new walking and cycling bridge along the north quays of the Liffey. The bridges will cross the mouth of the Royal Canal where it meets the River Liffey, just in front of the Dublin Convention Centre.

There are separate paths for walking and cycling with a barrier between the two. The new cycle bridge will link the Royal Canal Cycleway with the two-way cycle track on the north quays to the 3 Arena. It will also remove one of the most dangerous pinch points for people on bikes in the area.

Dublin Cycling Campaign is delighted to see these bridges now under construction. We provided critical feedback during the concept design phase and encouraged its approval through the Part 8 planning process. These new bridges close a missing gap in the area and link together two pieces of protected segregated cycle infrastructure. Forming a network of connected and protected cycle routes around the City is one of our key aims.

The estimated construction time is eight weeks. You can find more information about the new bridges here.
