Love30 Group makes Fingal Submission

The Love 30 Campaign has made a submission on Fingal County Council’s draft speed limit bye-laws. The proposals will see more than 90% of housing estates gain 30 km/h speed limits, along with many other changes that see more than ten sets of bye-laws consolidated into a single document. We have supported the proposals, but have asked Fingal CC to go further - to provide more 30 km/h speed limits in town and village centres, non-estate residential roads and at schools, together with other changes to improve road safety for all.

We have asked for safety audits to be carried out at the recently revised GoSafe Zones, which are locations known to have safety issues.

Traffic calming will also be needed in many locations. While a reduction in speed limits may encourage many road users to reduce their speed, traffic calming will be needed to ensure that others comply.

The public consultation document can be downloaded from https://consult.fingal.ie/en/consultation/road-traffic-speed-limits-coun… You can download the council’s proposals where it says “Materials” on that webpage. You can see the submissions that residents and organisations have made where it says “Submissions”. We have indicated our support for most of these submissions.

This is an important step forward by Fingal CC in making its roads safer for all users!
